Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Executive Director Robert E. Cacchione Named to Gentlemen’s Committee of 128th Alltech National Horse Show

Fairfield, CT -- Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) executive director Robert E. Cacchione has accepted an invitation to join the Gentlemen’s Committee of the most prestigious indoor horse show in American history, the 128th annual Alltech National Horse Show, November 2-6, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

Cacchione’s role on the Gentlemen’s Committee caps a brilliant year of recognition for his dedication to intercollegiate horse sport, accepting the U.S. Hunter Jumper Association Presidents Distinguished Service Award, U.S. Equestrian Federation/EQUUS Foundation Humanitarian Award, Doctor of Humane Letters from Centenary College, and 10th annual Pfizer/American Horse Publications Equine Industry Vision Award.

The National Horse Show Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Committees are traditionally responsible for graciously assisting with logistics pertaining to social functions, and various responsibilities in support of the success of the competition.

“Of course, I’m very honored to participate,” said Cacchione. “The National Horse has a long tradition of celebrating the best of our equestrian world. I’m especially thrilled to participate with its premier at the Kentucky Horse Park, a superb venue where the IHSA held its own 2010 and 2011 National Championships.”

Cacchione launched the egalitarian concept for IHSA while an undergraduate at Fairleigh Dickinson University in the late 1960’s, formally incorporating the IHSA in 1967. Today IHSA serves some 380 colleges and 8800 riders, and will host its 2012 IHSA National Championships, May 3-6, at the Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh, NC.
