Dedication Wins Pennsylvania National Grand Hunter Championship

Dedication earned the Grand award with consistent performances in the First Year Green Hunter Division taking the blue ribbon in two classes over fences and coming in second in a third over fences class, the Handy class and the Under Saddle class. The six-year-old gelding was also named First Year Green Hunter Champion, sponsored by Derbydown, Inc., Louise Serio. The Reserve Champion in the First Year division was Come Monday, owned by Davlyn Farms and shown by Christa Endicott.
Dedication’s rider, Scott Stewart of Wellington, FL received the Leading Hunter Rider Award, sponsored by Nancy and Heather Hooker.
“He is probably one of the nicest horses that I have ever ridden,” said Stewart of Dedication. “He is really just an amazing hunter. He is such a beautiful mover and an athletic jumper. Even though he is one of the greenest horses that I have you wouldn’t know it because he is just so confident.”
Other Hunter Championships awarded were: Second Year Green Championship, sponsored by Mrs. Frances W. McCabe, and won by Summer Place, owned by Pony Lane Farm and ridden by Maggie Jayne. Reserve Champion was Miss Lucy, owned by Helen Lenahan and ridden by Jennifer Alfano.
Small Celebration, owned by Iwasaki & Reilly/Huckleberry Farm won the Pre-Green Hunter 3’3” Championship with John French in the saddle. Beholden, owned by Fashion Farm and shown by Scott Stewart was Reserve Champion.
The Regular Conformation Hunter Champion was Early Applause, owned by Pony Lane Farm and shown by Maggie Jayne. The Reserve Champion was Last Call, owned by Lisa A.H. Cudahy and ridden by Cookie Beck. The division was sponsored by Penelope Ayers & Ravens Wood Farm.
The Green Conformation Hunter Championship, sponsored by PPC Lubricants, was won by Moshi, owned by Stephanie Riggio and ridden by Sandra Ferrell. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Wheeler’s Cold Harbor won the Reserve Championship with Hunt Tosh in the saddle.
Competition at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg continues through October 22 with Saturday’s featured event, the $75,000 FEI World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix de Penn National.

General admission for through Friday, October 21, is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. General admission for Saturday, October 22, is $20 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. As always, children under 6 are admitted free in general admission seating. Convenient parking is also free.
