by PRO | Oct 27, 2011, 4:13 PM

Temecula, CA - In only it's second year, the Galway Downs International Three-Day Event, part of the Professional Riders Organization's PRO Tour Series to be conducted in Temecula, California November 3 - 6, 2011, is quickly becoming the place to be.

The Professional Riders Organization announced today that fifteen horses will be shipped on Air Horse One, H.E. Tex Sutton Forwarding's Boeing 727 from three locations on the east coast of the United States to compete at the Galway Downs International Event. H.E Tex Sutton is the Official US Equine Air Carrier of the Professional Riders Organization and over the past two years has been responsible for flying more than fifty-eight east coast based horses to competitions in California and Montana.

Spectators can look forward to watching stars compete such as 1992 US Olympic Team member Stephen Bradley, US Team Member Mara Depuy, Virginia-based Nina Ligon of Thailand, Pennsylvania based Ronald Zabala-Goetschel of Ecuador, California-based James Alliston of Great Britain, Merol Blom of the Netherlands and Canadian Team Silver Medalist Hawley Bennett-Awad. Additionally, Air Horse One will also be transporting horses for Pan American Games U.S. Eventing Team Gold Medalist's Buck Davidson, Michael Pollard and Shannon Lilley.

Not only will spectators and riders enjoy the excitement of top caliber competition at Galway Downs, they will be raising money for a great cause. Event organizer Robert Kellerhouse recently announced that a portion of all ticket sales will benefit Operation Homefront of Southern California, providing emergency financial and other assistance to military families and wounded warriors. "With the unique, historic military roots of these events, including and supporting military families is a natural partnership for PRO, Galway Downs and Operation Homefront," said Jay Anderson, Operation Homefront of Southern California Chapter President. "PRO and Robert Kellerhouse, organizer of Galway Downs, are setting a terrific example by contributing to improving the morale of our service members and their families, as well as providing resources for the chapter. We're proud to join our partners at Galway Downs for this great autumn event." Galway Downs is also providing free admission on any day of the event to those holding valid military identification cards. Robert Kellerhouse added, "Galway Downs is very pleased with the addition of Operation Homefront as PRO's official charitable partner and we are looking forward to raising awareness and funds for them. The military and its service members have such a large impact in our part of the world and that, coupled with our sports roots being based in Cavalry mounts, really shows the natural inclination for the sport of eventing to come together with Operation Homefront".

"PRO's riders feel a kinship with the military, because of the bravery, endurance, and dedication required in the sport of Three-Day Eventing, traits that certainly resonate with the members of our Armed Forces," said Samantha Lendl, Executive Director of the Professional Riders Organization. "Operation Homefront is the Official Charitable Partner of PRO throughout the country. Our goals for the partnership are to provide some relaxation time to our service members and their families, raise awareness about Operation Homefront, and provide financial support to the participating chapters."

"As riders, we are so excited to help an organization that impacts the lives of families of our military members in times of need," said Buck Davidson a founding member of PRO. "Our sport originated in the cavalry and we feel it just makes sense to honor the history of eventing by supporting families who are connected to all branches of services".

Along with the generous contribution of the funds raised through ticket sales, Operation Homefront Southern California will be conducting a toy drive in preparation for the upcoming holiday season, during the three-day event November 4-6. Individuals who wish to contribute can bring new, unwrapped toys and drop them off at the Operation Homefront Southern California information table at any time over the course of the event. All donated toys will be distributed to military families for their children across Southern California.

In addition to watching the Olympic qualifying competition, invited military guests and spectators will have a chance to test drive their choice of several Land Rovers on the off road driving course set up adjacent to the entrance at Galway Downs. Several fantastic giveaways will also be available to all who participate along side the trade fair featuring local vendors and a variety of family friendly activities.

General admission for the Galway Downs International Three-Day Event is $8 per day in advance, $10 at the gate. VIP tickets-which include seating in the ringside tent, lunch and a full selection of beverages-are also available for $55 per day in advance. For advance reservations, go to www.galwaydowns.com.
