Lexington, KY - During the 2011 USHJA Annual Meeting the United States Hunter Jumper Association announced the development of its first mobile application. Set to launch on February 15, 2012, the app titled “At the Gate” was designed while considering the busy professional who is "standing at the gate” needing just the facts.

USHJA CEO Shelby French shared the vision behind the application: “USHJA is making a conscience effort to produce cost effective member benefits that compliment today’s busy equestrian and preferred means of communication. The ‘At the Gate’ app was designed to offer quick answers to common questions. While designed with trainers in mind, the app is free and beneficial to all members. We reached out to several committees when designing this to ensure we were meeting the needs of the diverse demographics of USHJA trainers.”

Marnye Langer of LEGISequine.com, presenting sponsor of “At the Gate”, also sees the mobile app as a means of supporting the members, specifically trainers. “We pride ourselves on being responsive and knowledgeable to our insurance customers. Supporting the USHJA’s first mobile app just made sense and reflects our goal of supporting busy professionals and providing them with the products and services they need.”

The application, which will be available for Android and Apple phone users, will provide direct access to commonly asked questions including: indoor and major show/finals qualifying information and deadlines; national standings; drugs and medication guidelines; tack options allowed for hunter, equitation, and jumpers; rule changes affecting the current year; and schooling rules for hunters and jumpers.

There will also be a special trainer’s section covering insurance, taxes, sales integrity, understanding commissions and certification. After the initial launch, the USHJA will begin working on the next app, “Ringside”, which will be geared towards parents.
