Wellington, FL – Pan Am Gold Medalist Lauren Sammis and Sagacious HF, a KWPN gelding owned by Al Guden and Hyperion Farm, have arrived in Wellington and are looking forward to a great New Year as well as a fabulous show season. Sagacious, a jet black gelding with his own Facebook page and a large fan following, is in top shape as he prepares to compete on the Grand Prix circuit while focusing on the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

"I'm excited about 2012 and the number of shows we have to choose from to showcase Sagacious in the Grand Prix. He has been here at Hyperion Farm for a month with Lauren and they've been working hard," Guden said.

Sagacious and Sammis showed off their star power at the end of 2011 when they finished fifth overall at the Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Festival of Champions with a score of 67.763%. The pair finished 8th in the Grand Prix, 3rd in the Grand Prix Special and 4th in the Grand Prix Freestyle.

Sammis, who has trained Sagacious from Training Level to Grand Prix, will kick off the 2012 show season by competing the handsome gelding at the Wellinton Classic Dressage Challenge I and continuing with the Gold Coast Opener CDI-3*. While Guden says he is looking forward to watching Sammis and Sagacious continue to excel and ride into the winner’s circle, the pair have had a remarkable career so far. In addition to representing the United States at the Pan Am Games, they have won CDI Grand Prix classes at some of the most prestigious shows in the country.

Sagacious has proved to be an ambassador for the KWPN breed, and in 2009 the KWPN (Dutch) Registry awarded Crown Predicate honors to Sagacious. A special symbol on his registration papers show he was ranked in the top 200 FEI Dressage horses in the world, and that same year he was ranked 56th in the world and 2nd in North America in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle.
