Stephens City, VA
- The Welsh Pony & Cob Society is pleased to announce an exciting and historic change for their organization. Effective immediately, the WPCSA will include Part-Bred Welsh into their registry. Dr. Ruth Wilburn, WPCSA President, acknowledges that including Part-Breds in the WPCSA furthers the Society's goal of recognizing the impact of the Welsh breed in all disciplines, while carefully maintaining pedigree information. "We are excited to welcome Part-Bred Welsh into our organization and believe that it will mutually benefit the Society as well as the breeders and owners of animals with Part-Bred Welsh lineage."

In order to qualify for Part-Bred registration, the Part-Bred must have at least one WPCSA registered Half-Welsh parent. Registered Part-Bred Welsh will be identified with a "P" prefix to their registry numbers. At this time, all Half-Welsh classes and awards will be renamed to Half-Welsh/Part-Bred, and registered Part-Bred animals will participate in those alongside the Half-Welsh. The need for separate Part-Bred classes and awards will be determined in the future as the number of Part-Bred registrations is monitored. As with all WPCSA registrations, fees will be based on the animal's age at the time of application. As an introductory promotion, the fee for registering a Part-Bred Welsh will be capped at a maximum of $125 through August 31, 2012. As of September 1, 2012, regular registration fees will apply. If you have an animal that qualifies for Part-Bred Welsh, please visit www.welshpony.org to begin the registration process today.
