Lexington, KY - The American Saddlebred Horse Association, a century-old breed association and registry headquartered at The Kentucky Horse Park, seeks a dynamic leader to serve as its Executive Director, who will manage and oversee all operations and staff of the Association and Registry, and work closely with Association and Registry Board Directors.

Job Title: Executive Director – American Saddlebred Horse Association
Reports To: Presidents and Board of Directors of the American Saddlebred Horse Association, Inc. (ASHA) and the American Saddlebred Registry (the Registry)
Function:
To serve as the chief of staff of the ASHA and the Registry, with the overall responsibility for the administration and management of the programs and staff of the ASHA and the Registry, while enabling the Board to fulfill its governance functions.
To implement the strategic goals and objectives of the ASHA and the Registry, which is to safeguard the integrity of the American Saddlebred breed, to develop and strengthen programs that will advance the industry, to promote the uses of the American Saddlebred and to expand the public’s knowledge of the American Saddlebred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises staff, including assignments and priorities, oversees all human resource matters including employment, benefits, training and compensation.
Assists in the development of annual budget and prudently manages resources within budget guidelines (including purchases/leases, review of capital expenditures, contract review and administration and insurance).
Oversees all information technology and communications, including media releases and publications.
Develops operational standards, policies, procedures and best practices.
Assists with education, promotion and marketing efforts, including development/fund-raising activities.
Coordination and planning of Annual Convention, Board meetings and special events (including the World’s Championship Horse Show).
Develops and maintains good communications and a positive working relationship with the members of the Boards of the ASHA and the Registry, as well as Saddlebred breeders, owners, trainers and members of the ASHA.
Administers all Futurity, Sweepstakes and other prize money programs.
Supervises all record keeping and is responsible for enforcing the rules of registration and transfer of ownership of horses and collection of fees associated with those transactions.
Knowledge, Training and Skills Required:
Bachelor degree with significant work/business experience in a managerial role. Strong interpersonal, organizational and team building skills required. Ability to work with active Boards of Directors. Willing to relocate to Lexington, KY for a full-time position. Promotional, marketing, fund-raising and equine skills a plus.
