Fair Hill Underway

Things are in full swing at Fair Hill.

More than 100 horses were presented to the ground juries for the two and three star today. Many were on their toes as the autumn breeze kicked up. Riders also took the opportunity to don their fall fashions; as colorful scarves and boots were the theme for the ladies and the guys took the chance to dust off their corduroys and blazers. The horses also looked nicely clipped and turned-out to the nines!

Last Minute Preps Before Jogging

My traveling companion and faithful sidekick, Ketel the 9 pound black and tan Irish terrier, took the opportunity to make new friends and wrestle. Which all the canines seemed to enjoy however, the people attached to them spent a fair bit of time untangled leashes. I’m also sure my right arm may have been disclocated more than once.

Hayley Martin

Ketel has also made a new friend in the 10 month old Irish Setter puppy, Hailey, who is the newest addition to Boyd and Silva Martin’s operation.
Currently, some horses are getting a late after flat school in preparation for Thursday and Friday’s dressage. All seem to be cooperating and being quite obedient which seems to be putting smiles on my riders and coach’s faces.

Competition officially gets underway tomorrow with Will Coleman and Ideal Contini heading down centerline at 9:20am
More tomorrow,
Helen
