Daily update 1

Exhibitors: Lizzie Cohen & Megan Moschgat – Monday 08-15-2011 The first day of a show is always exciting but there seemed to be an extra positive aura around today and the new beginning in Brandon. The best thing about this “new beginning” is that the facility is really trying hard to make the exhibitors happy by building a great show from the ground up. The fantastic footing in the arena made it much easier to navigate with the smaller size of the Westman Place ring. With cuts and a semi-finals running through out the day, it was easy to spend the whole time at the show. The first day capped off with the largest performance SF/F class so far, H/A Country English Pleasure 40+ over. The 18 entries made it an exhilarating class to watch.

“It was a fun and interesting day. First day at a new facility is always an adventure. Double Your Bet was double National champion today in H/A Hunter pleasure JTR and AAOTR 40&O. With the new facility everyone is getting a feel for it and unfortunately overall everyone is a little frustrated with the size of the main arena, but everyone likes the town so much more. Any time you are in a new place there's an adjusting period to determine the different possibilities of bettering the facility.”

The show is going great! Large classes with lots of quality. Judges doing a great job. No show facility is perfect and the only negative that we see is the main arena is small. The Canadians are so happy that we are here. Lots of locals roaming the aisles, taking pictures and thanking us for coming.

Paul Heiman, a very well respected and loyal face in the Arabian horse community just won his second set of roses in Brandon! The first set being a Unanimous Championship yesterday in H/A Pleasure Driving with Baske is a Genius and today a Reserve Championship in PB country with CL Berry Supreme. Both received standing ovations and tears to quite a few eyes.
Paul is always a pleasure to watch!

Double Roses in one day!
Congratulations to:
Double Your Bet—National Champion in H/A Hunter Pl JTR & AAOTR 40&O!
Just Earl—National Champion H/A Native Costume and Reserve Champion H/A Country English Pleasure AAOTR 40 and Over!

“Today at Canadian Nationals I believe the highlight was Paul Heiman receiving a standing ovation in the PB CEP AAOTR 40 & OVER with a reserve championship on CL Berry!! We should all be so lucky to have the energy and enthusiasm as him!! As I mentioned yesterday the size if the arena has been a major concern; however, a city council man for Brandon and a board member of the Keystone center (Mr. Shawn Berry) came through the showgrounds and stopped by our stalls and asked about concerns we may have. We brought up the point of the size of the arena and he said that the size could be extended with more notice and some convincing with the board of the keystone center. The community has been nothing short of enthusiastic about us being here. The stands have been relatively full and we have a lot if locals coming through to look at the horses and set ups.”
