Rolex Events Roll On

Wednesday dawned sunny and warm, couldn’t have asked for better horse show weather. Reports are that rain showers are on their way over the weekend… we're all hoping they hold off!

Day two of Rolex week saw the Grand Prix Special for the Kentucky Cup CDI3*, four US riders contested the field of 16 returning after yesterday’s Grand Prix. Jane Hannigan and Maksymillian were the first US combination to top the leader board with a score of 67.375%. Shawna Harding and Come On III took to the ring soon after and bested Hannigan’s score by a mere point. After a spectacular performance by Pierre St Jacques and Lucky Tiger the US sat in first, second and third.

A US sweep of the ribbons was not to be however, the last two riders into the ring, Bonny Bonnello (CAN) and Mikala Munter Gunderson (DNK), performed near perfect rounds, Gunderson finished with a 70.792% and Bonnello was just shy of first with 70.292%. The final results were first place, Gunderson, second place, Bonnello and third place St Jacques.

After a challenging excursion to get food (challenging because there were so many options and making a decision was tough) I checked out my first Rolex Kentucky Three-Day jog. All 53 horses were accepted making this the largest field in the history of the event.
