Time Warp

Right now I have this strange feeling that time has stopped for a few hours. Which is very bizarre to say as it seems as though everything and everyone has been going non-stop for going on 10 days now.

Yesterday we wrapped up week one (well it was actually a little more than a week) with the eventing show jumping. The end to this part of the competition was definitely not what everyone had expected. While the end result was disappointing for the US all the event riders and their large support teams put in a world class effort all week.

Unfortunately, things don’t always turn out like you hope they will in all of sports. Eventing is no different.

But huge congratulations should go out to Michael Jung, William Fox-Pitt and Andrew Nicholson who all won their first individual World Championship medals and looked all class doing it.

The Brits looked as close to perfection throughout the competition as I have ever seen and were deserving Team Gold medal winners. Canada was simply awesome winning the silver and the New Zealanders fought hard to take home the bronze.

The jumping starts today (well actually in an hour and half) with the speed competition, officially signaling the start of week 2.

Until the first horse canters in the ring, I feel like I’m living in this strange wrinkle in time, somewhere between the end and beginning.
Enough philosophizing, I should probably get some coffee…………
