Kentucky Cup Driving: Looking Back

Sunday is not end of show
-- After congratulations are given, ribbons handed out and horses in the boxes, the work continues. Horses are washed, the barn broken down and the camps are disassembled. Slowly competitors start to leave and the feeling of the win gets lost in the rush to get packed. It's a strange feeling to be a member of a team that just won the most prestigious driving event leading up to the world games. It feels almost surreal. The team was turned out in flawless fashion with dazzling harness, immpecable horses and a sparkling carriage to produce the intended result. All members of the team, driver, grooms, manager and horses had the drive to win and it feels great to acheive what we all wanted. As we loaded horses at 3 am, all I could do was smile at the job these horses do and the life they live and the heart they have to be able to keep proving to be the best team around. So as we head home, the long hours, hard work and the fire to win have all proved to be worthwhile.
