The 20th Annual Arabian Youth National Championship Show

by Christy Egan for Arabian Horse Global | Jul 26, 2012, 11:17 AM

It began years before its inaugural date in 1993, this vision of an Arabian championship show for young people. Arabian horsemen have always applauded and supported their youth, and the current national show is a dynamic reflection of that recognition and energy. This year’s show officially began Saturday, July 21st, but there were also several days of Youth Clinics, Seminars and a Youth Convention that led up to first classes Saturday morning. There will be a total of over 130 classes at the 2012 show and young riders will compete in a wide variety of competition, including western, English, Hunter, reining, dressage and jumping.

In addition to the show there are many delightful side “events”. On the first Saturday night there is a welcome party, followed by the Parade of Regions golf cart floats on Sunday afternoon, a stick horse class, dog races and a 20th Anniversary Celebration party on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 25th. On the finals two days of the show, Friday and Saturday afternoons, July 27th and 28th, the USEF Network will live stream simulcast in conjunction with www.ArabianHorseGlobal.com. The Friday session will feature Native Costume, Western Equitation 10 & Under, Country English, Show Hack and Hunter Pleasure. Saturday’s classes will have finals in English, Country English, Hunter and Western Pleasure. Both afternoon sessions will begin at 1 pm MDT; 3 pm Eastern.

Live coverage of the entire Youth National Championships began on Thursday, July 19th with the afternoon Seminars, and Friday, July 20th with the afternoon AHYA Convention coverage. All of the classes on three separate rings will be live broadcast on www.ArabianHorseGlobal.com. Arabian Horse Global will also offer a Daily Flip Book with RESULTS from the previous day’s competition as well as a current Photo Gallery. A brand new coverage this year, the Daily Video Moments, will feature the live events and the winners, including the parties, Golf Cart Region Parade, Stick Horse, and other great clips and memories from the show.

Most importantly, the Youth National Championship Show provides an extraordinary opportunity for young people of the Arabian Breed to gather, compete, share their love for horses, and vie for roses and trophies along with the best of their peers. It’s also a chance for families to participate together, and it’s delightful to watch the kids, their friends and their families, including lots of grandparents, share so much happiness and fun at the Arabian Youth Nationals.
