Goutal Wins Individual Title at 2005 Adequan/USEF National Junior Jumper Championships; Zone 5 Takes Team Title

Harrisburg, PA — Making a name for herself amidst a field of some of the nation’s best junior jumpers at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, 17-year-old Brianne Goutal of New York, NY, and her mount Onira, won the individual title and the Gold medal at the 2005 Adequan/USEF National Junior Jumper Championship, October 13-15. Coming in second for Silver was 17-year-old Julie Welles, of West Simsbury, CT, atop Lapeti, followed by the Bronze medal winner, 15-year-old Kels Bonham of Claremore, OK, riding Orley.

Results from the 2005 Adequan/USEF National Junior Jumper Championships:

5. Haylie Jayne, 17, of Elgin, IL, riding Cartier
6. Evan Coluccio, 17, of Purcellville, VA, riding Ransom
7. Joshua Vanderveen, 17, of Wheaton, IL, riding Bull Run’s Atollo Anton
8. Sloane Coles, 17, of The Plains, VA, riding Cloud Nine
9. Cody Auer, 18, of Fairfield, CT, riding Regina
10. Henry Pfeiffer, 16, of Temperance, MI, riding Preston.

The USEF Prix de States Team Championship title was decided on October 16, with Zone 5 (IL, IN, KY, MI, OH) taking the top spot as the Gold medal team. The Zone 5 team included: Haylie Jayne riding Cartier; Alex Parrish riding Cat’s Charly; Henry Pfeiffer riding Preston; and Joshua Vanderveen riding Bull Run’s Apollo Anton. The riders were led to victory under the guidance of Chef d’ Equipe Alex Jayne.

The names of the winners will be inscribed on the Frances Newbill Rowe Memorial Trophy, named in honor of the top jumper trainer of the 1960s and 70s. Winning team riders were awarded Gold medals, keeper trophies and custom coolers.

In an unexpected turn of events, three teams were awarded the Silver medal spot, Zone 1, Zone 3 and Zone 10. Zone 1 (CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, VT) included: Cody Auer riding Regina; Natalie Johnson riding Rhythm & Blues; Julie Welles riding Lapeti; and Maggie McAlary and Mid-Accord. Zone 3 (DE, DC, MD, NC, NC, VA, WV) included: Evan Coluccio riding Ransom; Aimee Aron riding Jamaica; Annie Wise riding Escada; and Sloane Coles riding Cloud Nine. Zone 10 (CA, NV) included: Lauren Hester riding Oxford; Karl Cook riding Notories Utopia; Katherine Bardis riding Mademoiselle; and Hannah Selleck riding Cirka Z.

Additional Silver medals and coolers will be ordered and delivered to the remainder of the winners of this unusual three-way tie.
