Lexington, KY – The MidSouth Three-Day Event at the Kentucky Horse Park played host to four championships October 20-23. Mother Nature made the weekend cold and damp, but that didn’t stop 80 riders from competing in the CCI* with steeplechase, the 2005 USEF National One-Star Eventing Championship East Coast.

John Williams and his own Sweepea Dean led from start to finish, winning the Championship for the Richard D. Collins trophy. Williams added only one rail to his dressage score of 39.5 to finish the weekend with a total score of 43.5. Reserve championship for the Championship was Elisa Wallace and her six-year-old Thoroughbred, Jackson, finishing on their dressage score of 51.

Debbie Nugent and her eight-year-old Thoroughbred, My Echo, also led start to finish in the amateur division to clinch the Alexander Mackay Smith Trophy for the National Amateur Championship. The reserve champion in this division was Katherine Breunig. Katherine also took home the new National 19-21-Year-Old Championship riding her eight year old grey gelding Aris.

The National Junior Championship also took place as a part of the MidSouth CCI*. Once again the winner led start to finish and Bonner Carpenter and her horse Impeccable took home the Harry T. Peters Trophy. The reserve champion was Katlyn McMorris and her eight-year-old New Zealand Thoroughbred, Clifton Peekachu.
