The USEF Emerson Burr Horsemanship Fund received a $5,225 grant from the EQUUS Foundation. The Emerson Burr Horsemanship Fund was one of 13 recipients to receive money from the EQUUS Foundation in 2004.
The Emerson Burr Horsemanship Fund was created to promote and perpetuate good horsemanship in young equestrians. Income generated from the fund is awarded to four children each year that compete at the USEF Pony Finals. Each child participating will take a written horsemanship test; the winners of the written test will then take a hands-on horsemanship test. The four winners will receive a monetary grant to go towards furthering their education or offsetting equestrian-related costs.
The EQUUS Foundation, Inc., established in August 2002, is an all-volunteer 501 (c)(3) charity that awards grants to charitable organizations that use the horse to benefit the general public and charitable organizations that benefit the equestrian sport as a whole. In just two years, the EQUUS Foundation has awarded over $200,000 in grants. Additional information about their organization is available on their website, www.equusfoundation.org
