The applications for the 2006 Race For Education (RFE) scholarships have now been posted on the RFE website at www.racingscholarships.com. The Race For Education offers two types of scholarships: the Horsemen's Scholarship, for children of equine-industry workers; and the Thoroughbred Scholarship, for children from any background but who intend to pursue an equine-related field of study, including veterinary medicine (with an equine emphasis). Both are primarily need-based but also have academic requirements. The deadline to receive completed applications is Feb. 28, 2006.
Since its inception three years ago, The Race For Education has given out $684,000 in college tuition to 59 students from 17 states.
