Top Three Unchanged in Latest NCEA Coaches Poll

by Andrew Minnick | Feb 20, 2013, 2:33 PM

A new National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) coaches poll was released Wednesday and as expected, there wasn’t any shakeup among the top  hree teams. The most notable change was Kansas State’s flip with South Carolina to No.4 and No.5 respectively. Coming into the spring season the top four spots were occupied by SEC teams. Though the conference still has a stranglehold on the top two, good showings by Oklahoma State and Kansas State, in conjunction with South Carolina and Texas A&M losing streaks, have given the Big 12 a much stronger showing in the poll. Baylor & Texas A&M stay tied at No.6 and Southern Methodist jumps up to No.9, one spot below cross town rival Texas Christian. Despite a five match win streak, South Dakota State has dropped one spot into a tie at No.10 with previously unranked New Mexico State.

Jennifer Waxman and Auburn stayed put at No.2 in the coaches poll behind conference rival Georgia. The two teams will meet on Saturday in Bishop, GA. (Auburn Sophomore Danielle Long)
