Annual Seminar to Feature Horse Health Education from Veterinary Experts

The American Association of Equine Practitioners’ (AAEP) annual health seminar for horse owners - Horseman’s Day - will take place Sunday, December 5 in Denver, CO. Designed for those interested in equine health care, Horseman’s Day features leading veterinary experts delivering the latest news and advances in horse health.

Now in its fifth year, the event will feature five educational seminars designed specifically for horse owners. For the first time, Horseman’s Day will also offer a special trade show that will include many of the AAEP’s Educational and Alliance partners. Lunch will be included with the price of registration for the event. The seminar is sponsored through the support of
the AAEP’s Educational Partners. Topics and speakers for the 2004 event are:

· Healthy Teeth Make A Happy Horse. Dr. Mary DeLorey, Northwest Equine Dentistry, Inc., Kettle Falls, WA.
· Preventative Care Strategies to Maximize Performance Horse Success. Dr. Sally Vivrette, Triangle Equine Veterinary Services, Cary, NC.
· Routine and Emergency Care of the Neonatal Foal. Dr. Dana Zimmel, University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine, Gainesville, FL.
· Topics in Equine Internal Parasite Control and an Update on Equine Motor Neuron Disease. Dr. Ken Bedell, Cornell University, Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences, Ithaca, NY.
· Equine Endocrinology: Cushing’s Disease and Metabolic Syndrome. Dr. Christie Malazdrewich, University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine, St. Paul, MN.

Moderators for the event will be Dr. Ben Espy of San Antonio, TX, and Dr. Duncan Peters of Kalispell, MT.

Horseman’s Day, held in conjunction with the AAEP’s 50th Annual Convention, will take place from 10a.m. to 5p.m. at the Marriott Denver City Center.
