As expected, the Auburn Tigers took over the No.1 ranking in the latest NCEA Coaches poll. Despite a loss to Texas A&M last Friday, the Tigers finished their season-ending road trip to Texas 2-1 and defeated the former No.1 Georgia Bulldogs the week before. Their 10-2 record is the most impressive in the NCEA, and they’ve been the most consistently good team all year. Georgia, Oklahoma State, and Fresno State also earned No.1 votes, but Auburn was clearly the top team in this poll.

Georgia dropped to No.2 and Oklahoma State stayed put at No.3. South Carolina climbed back up up the rankings to No.4 after two strong weeks, and Baylor broke out of tie with Texas A&M to take the No.5 spot. A win over Auburn helped the Aggies stay at No.6 and TCU moved up one spot to No.7, despite a 1-2 record since the last poll was released.

The biggest movers were Fresno State and Kansas State. The Bulldogs went from winless and unranked to 2-8 and No.9 in the country after two very impressive wins over  South Dakota State and New Mexico State. The Wildcats, on the other hand, have lost three straight and looked bad while doing so. They dropped  four spots to No.8.

South Dakota State stayed put at No.10, and has now been a ranked in three straight coaches polls.

The next coaches poll is scheduled to be released on March 20th at Noon ET.
