South Carolina proved to be the best in the SEC when they won the first ever SEC Equestrian Championship over the weekend. Now they're No.1 in the NCEA Coaches poll rankings as well (Cory Burkarth)

Lexington, KY – South Carolina has made a historic leap to return to No.1 in the NCEA coaches poll. With wins over the top two ranked teams in the country, the Gamecocks won the inaugural SEC Equestrian Championship over the weekend, and voters noticed. Previously ranked No.6, the Gamecocks jumped five spots to finish the season ranked No.1 in the country. The five spot jump is the largest week-to-week jump in the rankings in NCEA coaches poll history. This is the second time that South Carolina has held the No.1 Ranking this season.

Oklahoma State moved up to No.2 after winning the Big 12 Championship while Georgia and Auburn both dropped two places to No.3 and No.4 respectively. Big 12 championship finalist Kansas State dropped one spot to No.5.

Baylor jumped one spot to No.6, TCU dropped one to No.7, Texas A&M stayed put at No.8., and SMU moved up one spot to No.9.

In a tie for No.10 are South Dakota State and the University of Tennessee Martin.
