Share Your Western Dressage Journey with the WDAA

by Western Dressage Association of America | Apr 15, 2013, 11:31 AM

One of the many wonders of Western Dressage is about the Journey. This Journey is one of education, growth, fun, friendships and of course, horses. Western heritage commonly references the tales shared out on the trail and around the campfire. These tales could be life changing experiences, important lessons, new knowledge, or just general fun.

The Western Dressage Association® of America is inviting members to share the stories of their Western Dressage Journey. The WDAA is looking for people interested in blogging for their website and social media! Stories could range from a one-time feature, to highlighting or supporting an event, or perhaps even be run as an ongoing series. There are several available categories each relating to a different aspect of this adventure. The topics within categories are open as long as they are reflective of or relating to Western Dressage and the WDAA.

To submit a story or idea to the WDAA, members are encouraged to go the following link, complete the form and select the option that fits best fits their tale: http://www.westerndressageassociation.org/submit-my-story-to-wdaa/

Categories include:

Grass Roots Experience - A chance for members to share a story (or series) on their Western Dressage Journey. Content here could include how a member developed interest in the discipline, found their Western Dressage horse, selected a trainer, experienced a clinic, day to day riding, etc. This category features the chance to share personal stories, adventures, rides and the magic experienced in the Journey!

Our Horses, Our Heroes – Is the category for telling the WDAA all about your horse(s)! Members can share horse’s name (registered and/or nickname), the facts about them (breed, age, color), and any fun or special facts. This is the chance to honor the horse and the special qualities that endears them to their people! Sharing photos is encouraged!

Proceed to “C” - This submission category is one that is a special benefit for Western Dressage judges. It is a chance to share your judge’s thoughts on topics beneficial to members who are or will be riding WDAA Western Dressage tests.

Show Us Your Ride – In this category members can submit a video or photos from showing experiences. Whether it is a schooling show or a World Show the WDAA wants to celebrate member’s Western Dressage rides! Details about the rider, the horse, the show, the experience, etc. is welcome for inclusion as well.

Trainers Loft - This category is a benefit for the attendees of WDAA Trainer the Trainers™ program. Share your TTT experience and/or how you incorporate Western Dressage and WDAA education in to your training.

One of our WDAA members recently shared her Grass Roots thoughts. Cathy Jennings writes:

My name is Catherine Jennings, but most people call me Cathy. I have been involved with Quarter Horses for most of my life and have owned and shown some wonderful horses. I am also an AQHA Novice Judge.

I have always loved dressage, and even though I have always incorporated dressage principles in my training, I have never felt I could commit to showing classical dressage. I have been hearing about Western Dressage, and it has very much intrigued me. It provides a venue where people can enjoy training their horses to do classical movements and I believe it opens up dressage for people who would have thought it was beyond their reach.

Kudos to everyone involved in developing this great new organization, Western Dressage Association. I look forward to meeting everyone and participating in future events.

Salute!
Cathy Jennings

The WDAA feels that there is great value in inclusion and the opportunity to highlight different stories members share or tales they have to tell. The Journey of understanding incorporated in Western Dressage is one devoted to the mission of the WDAA, but is also about the individuals and equine community that support this discipline. In providing the opportunity to laugh, cry, learn and grow together the members of the WDAA have a chance to build a community of support and friendship.

The stories of our members truly enhance the Journey!
