. - Oklahoma State head equestrian coach Larry Sanchez has been named the NCEA Coach of the Year, it was announced today. Sanchez was voted the top coach in collegiate equestrian by his NCEA peers at the spring meetings in Indianapolis.

Sanchez, who was voted Big 12 Coach of the Year in April, led the Cowgirls to a Western National Championship at last month’s NCEA National Championships in Waco. It marked the fourth Western National Champion for Oklahoma State, as the Cowgirls previously won the Western championship in 2000, 2003, and 2004. Sanchez also guided Oklahoma State to its second straight Big 12 Championship this season.

The Cowgirls had eight student-athletes named to the All-Big 12 Team this season. Two were named Big 12 Riders of the Year, and one Cowgirl was named Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Sanchez just completed his 14th season at Oklahoma State.
