Aurora, Colo. – The Arabian Horse Association (AHA) is headed back to Tulsa, Okla., for the 2018 U.S. National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show from October 19-27, at the Tulsa Expo Square. Check out the following new events and classes, and many other ways for exhibitors to get involved:
October 18
Stop by the Ford Truck Arena at 2:00 p.m. for the APAHA Exhibitor meeting.
October 22
The Halter Exhibitor meeting will be held in the Pavilion area in the evening.
October 24
NEW this year: the ranch riding amateur classes, which will take place in the Mustang Arena.
Chips for Charity, the Arabian Horsemens Distress Fund fundraiser, will take place in the front lobby of the Ford Truck Arena at approximately 6:30 p.m.
October 25
Wear a jersey or t-shirt in support of your favorite sports team (or barn team)!
The Arabian Horse Hippology Contest will be held at 8:00 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Tulsa.
NEW this year: the purebred ranch riding open classes, which will take place in the Mustang Arena.
October 26
The Arabian Horse Judging Contest, sponsored by ARC, will be held in the Pavilion Arena from 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
NEW this year: the Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabian (HA/AA) ranch riding open class, which will take place in the Mustang Arena.
The AWPA $50,000 HA/AA Western Pleasure Futurity will take place during the morning session in Ford Truck Arena.
The AEPA Equine Athlete $50,000 HA/AA English Pleasure Futurity will take place during the afternoon session in Ford Truck Arena.
The NEW AHPA $75,000 HA/AA Hunter Pleasure Futurity will take place during the afternoon session in Ford Truck Arena.
The AWPA Arabian Horse World $100,000 Arabian Western Pleasure Futurity will take place during the afternoon session in Ford Truck Arena.
In the evening, the “Celebration Station,” located in the front hall of the Ford Truck Arena, will be open and equipped with a cash bar and big screen TVs.
October 27
The Arabian Horse Youth Contest team presentations will take place during the afternoon session.
Meet Thunder, the Denver Broncos mascot, at U.S. Nationals! Stop by the Commercial Exhibit Hall any time between 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., drop off a children’s coat or donation, and get your picture taken with Thunder. All donations will go to benefit Tulsa-area children in need.
The APHA Royal Arabians $75,000 Arabian Hunter Pleasure Futurity will take place during the afternoon session in Ford Truck Arena.
The evening session begins at 6:45 p.m. with the opening ceremonies. The AEPA Arabian Horse Times $100,000 Arabian English Pleasure Futurity will take place during the evening session.
The Arabian Horse Youth Association (AHYA) Trails West trailer drawing will take place during the evening session on October 27. Purchase your tickets at the AHYA booth in the Commercial Exhibit Hall. The cost is $50 per ticket, or five for $200, and only 450 tickets will be sold. All proceeds will go to benefit AHYA and you don’t need to be present to win.
Total Arabian Interaction & Learning (T.A.I.L.) Tours will be held on the grounds this year at the show. T.A.I.L. Tours give an insider perspective of the Arabian breed and a behind-the-scenes look at the show. Take a tour of the mini museum exhibit, a “Tour of Arabian Horse Legends,” open every day from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Take a walk back in time and explore Arabian horse trainers, breeders, organizations and horses of the past.
