Nampa, Idaho - The Arabian Horse Association (AHA) hosted some of the most impressive Arabian sport horses in the U.S. and Canada at the 16th annual Sport Horse National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show from September 18-22, at the Ford Idaho Horse Park.
Nearly 400 Arabian, Half-Arabian, and Anglo-Arabian horses competed in an array of disciplines, including carriage driving, obstacle driving, hunter, jumping, and dressage. Competitors vied for the prestigious title of 2018 champion, as well as over $105,000 in total sweepstakes and prize money.
Sport Horse Nationals supplied fierce competition and a robust agenda of special activities, including shopping, social events, and educational opportunities. Newcomers to the Arabian horse took behind the scenes tours with the Total Arabian Interaction and Learning (T.A.I.L.) program. The show also hosted an incredible mini museum exhibit, A Tour of Arabian Horse Legends, where patrons could take a walk back in time and explore Arabian horse trainers, breeders, organizations, and horses of the past.
AHA has used #ahaBlueRoom to provide news and access to special events at Sport Horse Nationals. On Thursday, September 20, the Dressage Horse Perspective Jog was streamed live on Facebook. During the filming, Facebook viewers had the opportunity to vote for the best dressed individual by commenting on the live video with the jog participant's name. The participant with the highest number of comments received a prize bundle, ribbon, and equine-themed tote bag.
