Lexington, Ky. – The 2017 $100,000 USEF U25 Show Jumping National Championship began Thursday at the CP National Horse Show with the first of three competitions. Madison Goetzmann and Prestigious won the $15,000 faults-converted competition against a class of 22 competitors.
Seventeen-year-old Goetzmann (Skaneateles, N.Y.) and Prestigious, her 10-year-old Westphalian gelding, had a clear, fast round to finish with a time of 61.968 seconds. They lead on the overall championship leaderboard after the first of three competitions. Watch their winning round.
Twenty-three-year-old Abigail McArdle (St. Charles, Ill.) and Chuck Berry 8, Plain Bay Sales’ 10-year-old Hanoverian gelding, were less than a second behind the winners with a clear round in a time of 62.784 seconds to finish in second place. Twenty-one-year-old Jennifer Gates (Medina, Wash.) and Alex, Evergate Stables LLC’s 13-year-old Westphalian gelding, rounded out the top three with clear round in a time of 64.473 seconds.
The championship continues Friday with the $20,000 jump-off competition, the second phase of the championship.
