Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team Makes 2018 Debut at FEI Eventing Nations Cup™ Great Britain

Lexington, Ky. – The Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team will begin their 2018 FEI Nations Cup™ season when they compete in the FEI Eventing Nations Cup Great Britain, part of the Saracen Horse Feeds Houghton International Horse Trials CIC3*, May 24-27. Chef d’Equipe Leslie Law will lead the U.S. team of Katherine Coleman and the 2018 Karen Stives Endowment Fund Grant recipients Hallie Coon and Caroline Martin. During the four days of competition, Coon and Martin will use the event to build their team experience, while working with Coleman to accumulate valuable points in the FEI Eventing Nations Cup series standings. Over 100 horse-and-rider combinations will compete in the CIC3* division, with six teams (Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, Sweden, and the United States) contesting the Nations Cup, the second leg of the 2018 FEI Eventing Nations Cup series. Katherine Coleman and Monte Classico will enter the ring first for the U.S. team at 11:22 a.m. EST when dressage gets underway on Thursday.

Last Time Out

Coleman and Monte Classico placed second in the Red Hills International CIC2* in March. She competed at The Fork CIC3* in April with Longwood, placing in the top-25. After competing at the CCI2* and CIC2* levels in 2017, Coleman Monte Classico in his first Nations Cup competition. 

Coon and Celien placed ninth at The Fork CIC3* in April, and they make their first appearance on a Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team in the FEI Eventing Nations Cup Great Britain.

Martin and Danger Mouse placed fifth in the Jersey Fresh International CIC3* earlier this month. This will be the combinations first Nations Cup together. 

Career Highlights

Coleman: Member of the bronze medal-winning Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team in the 2017 FEI Nations Cup Houghton International CICO3* with Longwood, placed in the top-10 with each of her three horses at the 2017 Barroca d'Alva (second with Longwood in the CCI3* division, fifth with Horseware Lukeswell, and seventh with Back to Business in the CIC3* division).

Coon: US Equestrian Emerging Athlete Eventing 25 Program participant, 2018 Karen Stives Endowment Fund Grant recipient, placed second in the 2018 Ocala International Three-Day Festival CCI1* with Captain Chacco, placed third in the 2017 Virginia Horse Trials CCI2* with Lansdownne, placed fourth in the 2016 Pine Top Advanced Horse Trials CIC3* with Celien.

Martin: US Equestrian Emerging Athlete Eventing 25 Program participant, Land Rover/USEF Eventing Competition Grant recipient, three-time Karen Stives Endowment Fund Grant recipient, placed second in the 2018 Jersey Fresh International CCI3* with Islandwood Captain Jack, member of the bronze medal-winning Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team in the 2017 FEI Nations Cup Houghton International CICO3* with The Apprentice, placed fourth in the 2017 The Fork Horse Trials CIC3* with The Apprentice, won the 2017 Carolina International Horse Trials CIC3* with The Apprentice, placed second in the 2016 Richland Park Horse Trials CIC3* with Spring Easy, 2015 USEF One-Star Eventing Junior and Young Rider National Championship Reserve National Champion with Danger Mouse, 2013 North American Junior & Young Rider Championships (now the Adequan®/FEI North American Youth Championships presented by Gotham North) CCI2* individual gold and Area III team gold medalist with Quantum Solace.

Competition Information

Competition begins Thursday, May 24 at 6:00 a.m. EST with dressage.
