Herning, Denmark – The NetJets U.S. Jumping Team concluded team competition today in the Agria FEI World Jumping Championships in eleventh place, just missing out on qualification for round two of team competition, which will be held tomorrow under the lights in Stuterri ASK Stadium. Only the top ten teams from Round I qualified to move forward to tomorrow’s final, with McLain Ward and Contagious, as well as Brian Moggre and Balou du Reventon, moving forward as individual competitors after finishing within the top 60 overall combinations in Round I.

Ward (Brewster, N.Y.) and Contagious, a 2009 Deutches Sportpferd gelding owned by Beechwood Stables LLC, were the trailblazers of the day for the team, laying down a clear round well inside the time allowed of 85 seconds set by course designer Louis Konickx (NED). The track was set to the highest specs, with several fences maxing out at 1.65m-1.70m in height. With 17 total jumping efforts, the course saw rails fall around the track, which made for an exciting and intense day of competition with qualification on the line for everyone. The championship format for the Agria FEI World Jumping Championships presented by Helgstrand saw scores for each combination carry over into a faults-converted point system based on the Speed Round’s fastest time, which was delivered by Julien Epaillard (FRA) and Caracole de la Roque.

In their second team appearance at a world championship, Adrienne Sternlicht (Greenwich, Conn.) and Cristalline, a 2008 Bavarian Warmblood owned by Starlight Farms 1 LLC, had an unfortunate rail early in the course and added another four faults at the last oxer on course, barely tapping the front rail, for a final total of eight faults added to their base score of 7.00. The pair finished on a final score of 15.

Brian Moggre (Flower Mound, Texas) laid down a superb round in his first team championship appearance for the team yesterday aboard Balou du Reventon in the Speed Round and jumped a strong round today for the team, dropping just a single vertical to add four to his fast clear from yesterday. Moggre and the 2006 Oldenburg stallion owned by Ann Thompson, were efficient around the massive track and will move forward as an individual combination on a combined score of 6.41.

Lillie Keenan (New York, N.Y.) and Argan de Beliard, a 2010 Selle Francais gelding owned by Chansonette Farm, served as the fourth and final combination for the team, with the pair adding eight jumping faults and three-time faults in their tour of the course to finish on a total score of 11, which served as the team’s drop score. On a combined team total of 21.60 points, the team placed just behind the Brazilians, who captured the tenth-place position, and final qualifying placing, on a final total of 17.29.

Sweden will move forward to Round II as the leading team from Round I on a team total of 3.69 faults, while France sits just on their heels with 5.44 total faults combined. Germany holds third place overnight on a total of 11.76 faults.

Round II competition will begin tomorrow evening at 9:00 p.m. GMT+2/3:00 p.m. ET, with Ward and Contagious going 12^th in the order and Moggre and Balou du Reventon going 25^th. The top 25 riders following the conclusion of tomorrow’s competition will qualify and move forward to the Individual Final, set to start at 2:00 p.m. GMT+2/8:00 a.m. ET on Sunday, August 14.
