All 36 horses presented for the CCI3* were accepted by the Ground Jury. Two horses in this division were held: Buck Davidson's mount Carlevo and Sara Moore's mount Polaris. Both were accepted upon re-presentation. USEF Emerging Athlete, Jenny Caras (Cartersville, Ga.), has returned to Fair Hill at the CCI3* level for the third time with Fernhill Fortitude, a 13-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding she owns with Kristina Mitchell's. They placed sixth in The Dutta Corp./USEF CCI3* Eventing National Championship and were the USEF Developing Rider Eventing National Champions in 2016 and are predicted to be a combination to watch this year.
All 61 horses presented for the CCI2* were approved to compete. Waylon Robert's mount, Born Ready, was held but accepted when re-presented. In addition to his two mounts in the CCI3* division, USEF Training Listed Rider, Will Coleman (Charlottesville, Va.), has brought his Off The Record, an eight-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding, to compete in The Dutta Corp./USEF CCI2* Eventing National Championship. The pair finished in second place at the Bromont Three-Day Event earlier this year, Off The Record's first appearance at a CCI2* event.
Fair Hill International also welcomes back the USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) East Coast Championship, which showcases a quality field of four- and five-year-old horses to be evaluated for their ability to be successful at the upper levels of eventing.
