Compiègne, France – The Dutta Corp. U.S. Dressage Team finished 5th overall at the 2017 CDIO5* Compiègne on Sunday. With a combined score of 454.5 points, the U.S. team, comprised of Shelly Francis, Arlene “Tuny” Page, and Kathleen Raine finished behind Denmark and ahead of Belgium.
Additionally, Francis (Loxahatchee, Fla.) and Danilo, Patricia Stempel’s 2004, Hanoverian gelding finished 5th in Sunday’s Grand Prix Freestyle with a score of 74.475%. Raine (Murrieta, Calif.) and Breanna, her own, Jennifer Mason, and David Wightman’s 2000 Hanoverian mare, finished 6th in Sunday’s Grand Prix Special with a score of 70.471%, while Page (Wellington, Fla.) and Woodstock, her own 2003 Dutch Warmblood gelding, finished 8th with a score of 69.431%.
Because Jennifer Hoffman and her own and Jurgen Hoffmann’s XXXL Rubinio NRW withdrew from competition for veterinary reasons, all scores counted. Faced with this setback, the U.S. team persevered, supported by Chef d’Equipe Charlotte Bredahl-Baker.
“Compiègne is a wonderful show in a beautiful area and the facilities and footing are great. In the Grand Prix on the first day of the FEI Nations Cup, the team had some expensive, but uncharacteristic mistakes,” said Bredahl-Baker. “But on the second day they all rode really well and the scores went up. The show was highly competitive and the classes very large. This was my first time as Chef d'Equipe and I was really happy to see how all our riders supported each other throughout the competition.”
