Saddlebreds, Hackney Ponies, and Road Horses Trot into Freedom Hall for the 2017 World’s Championship Horse Show

Louisville, Ky. – Experience the excitement of the American Saddlebred, the Hackney Pony, and Road Horses at the World’s Championship Horse Show this week in Louisville, Ky., at the world-renowned Kentucky State Fair. This exciting event kicked off Saturday, August 19, and runs through Saturday, August 26.

Attracting spectators and exhibitors from around the world, nearly 2,000 horses will compete in historic Freedom Hall for over $1 million in awards during the seven-day event. Held since 1906 at the Kentucky State Fair, the World’s Championship Horse Show includes divisions for Three-Gaited, Five-Gaited, Fine Harness, Saddlebred Pleasure, Saddle Seat Equitation, Hackney/Harness Ponies, Roadster, In-Hand, and American Saddlebreds. Each division includes classes for amateurs, ladies, and junior exhibitors, as well as young horses and ponies. The Saddle Seat division in particular is extremely strong and competitive.

Individuals who win their respective classes will receive roses along with the title of World’s Champion (WC). Horses can also earn the titles of World’s Grand Champion (WGC) and World’s Champion of Champions (WCC).

The American Hackney Society (AHHS) will host a reception and social honoring the 2017 Lee and Beverly Dunn AHHS Kentucky State Fair Hall of Fame inductees on Wednesday, August 23.

Additionally, the 2017 USEF Saddle Seat Young Riders Stars and Stripes teams will be recognized Friday evening, August 25 during the evening session for their recent gold and silver medal finishes at the 2017 U.S. Saddle Seat Invitational/Test Event.

Finals Night begins Saturday evening, August 26, at 6:30 p.m. EST. The evening begins with the Ladies’ Three-Gaited Championship and ends with the prestigious $10,000 Five-Gaited World’s Grand Championship.
