Six Days of World-Class Competition Ahead at the PFHA Grand National Championship Show

Lexington, Ky. – The 2018 Paso Fino Horse Association's (PFHA) Grand National Championship Show kicks off on Sunday at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, Ga. The Grand National delivers six days of world-class competition featuring the best Paso Fino horses in the nation. From September 17-22, professional, amateur, and youth riders will exhibit these unique horses, all competing for the glory of winning the title of champion.

Last year, the Grand National welcomed nearly 1,000 exhibitors and 555 Paso Finos. One of the most distinct attributes of the Paso Fino breed is its natural gait, completely unique to the breed. Adorned with the title “Smoothest Riding Horse in the World,” Paso Fino horses are even-tempered and full of energy, drive, and stamina. Bred for good physical balance, the Paso Fino is quick, sure-footed, and very athletic. Learn more about the Paso Fino gaits.

These versatile horses are showcased in a wide range of classes throughout the week, from equitation and country pleasure to conformation and horsemanship in hand. Specialty classes include trail, Western pleasure, costume, and pleasure driving. In addition to unparalleled competition, the show also hosts food, clothing, jewelry, and tack vendors.

On September 22, the week concludes with the Largo Race, a staple and crowd favorite at the Grand National. As excitement mounts in the stands, the crowd rises to their feet, cheering the finalists on to victory. A perpetual trophy, on display in the PFHA office, will be engraved with the winner’s name.

Competition will be held in the Reaves Arena, beginning daily at 8:00 a.m. ET. Spectators are encouraged to attend. For those at home, the USEF Network will stream the Grand National live. Watch here!
