The Winners Thus Far at 2017 Adequan/FEI NAJYRC at HITS Saugerties

Saugerties, N.Y. – Dressage and jumping competition at the 2017 Adequan/FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North (NAJYRC) began on Wednesday at HITS-on-the-Hudson, and the rising stars of the sport have been delivering excellent performances.

For the USDF North American Junior and Young Rider Dressage Championships of the NAJYRC, the Region 3 Young Rider Team claimed the first gold medal of the Adequan/FEI NAJYRC with a score of 209.684. The Region 2 Young Rider Team collected silver with a score of 201.973 and the Region 1 Young Rider Team received bronze with a score of 198.184.

“It’s great coming into these competitions and meeting so many new people and getting close to people on your team so I’m really thankful for that," said Katrina Sadis of the Region 3 Young Rider Team.

The Region 7 Junior Team

The junior teams took to the dressage arena on Thursday in hopes of winning a medal. The Region 7 Junior Team made the trek from California worthwhile by winning the team gold medal with a score of 206.027. The Region 1 Junior Team took silver with a score of 201.081 and the Region 4 Junior Team earned bronze with a score of 197.621.

“We’ve all known each other for a really long time. The four of us are best friends actually... this is a goal we’ve been working towards together and I think it’s really awesome that we’ve been able to get this goal and win," said Ben Ebeling of the Region 7 Junior Team.

In the Individual Championship on Friday, Bebe Davis (Region 3) became a young rider double-gold medalist at the 2017 Adequan/ FEI NAJYRC by winning the FEI Young Rider Individual Test with Fiderhit OLD a score of 71.816%. Chase Shipka (Region 1) rode Zigal to the silver medal with a score of 71.526%, while Rebekah Mingari (Region 2) and Allure S grabbed the bronze medal with a score of 68.789%.

"I couldn’t be prouder of her; this is our first championship together. I’m over the moon," Davis said of Fiderhit OLD.

For the FEI Junior Individual Test, Aleyna Dunn (Region 7) and Bivera also collected her second gold medal of the championships with a score of 71.237% in the FEI Junior Individual Test. Christian Simonson (Region 7) and Herzkonig earned silver with a score of 70.921% and Tillie Jones (Region 4) and Apachi received the bronze with a score of 70.789%.

For the USHJA North American Children, Junior, and Young Rider Show Jumping Championships of the NAJYRC, the show jumping athletes competed in their respective Individual Qualifiers on Thursday. Eva Fisherman (Zones 1, 3, 4 & 5) and Rock Street won the Children class, while Clea Caddell (Zone 10) and Waltraut were second and Alexa Leong (Zone 10) and Hertogin were third. In the Junior class, Luciana Gonzalez Guerra (Mexico North) and Carmily claimed the blue ribbon, with Taylor St Jacques (Zones 2 & 3) and Qanter des Etisses finishing second and Caitlyn Connors (Zones 2 & 3) and Boleybawn Perfection finishing third. Alexanne Thibault (CAN) and Chacco Prime claimed top honors in the Young Rider class, while Lucas Porter (Zones 1, 3 &4) and Diamonte Darco were second and Brian Moggre (Zones 2, 5 & 7) and Condero 3 were third.

The Team Championships for all three divisions took place on Friday. The Zone 10 Children Team won gold with a total of 8 faults, while the Canada Children Team earned silver on 9 faults and the Mexico Children Team collected bronze with 20 faults.

The Zone 7 Junior Team was golden, finishing on 12 faults. The Mexico North Junior Team and the Zones 2 & 3 Junior Team both finished on 16 faults, but Mexico North came out on top in the jump-off to claim silver while Zones 2 & 3 took the bronze.

The Zone 2, 5 & 7 Young Rider Team claimed the gold medal, finishing on 12 faults. The Canada Young Rider Team claimed silver with 24 faults and the Zone 10 Young Rider Team received bronze with 84 faults.
