Top Athletes Ready for 2018 USEF Reining National Championships at Tulsa Reining Classic

Lexington, Ky. – Reining athletes from across the country arrived for the 2018 USEF Reining National Championships at the Tulsa Reining Classic. The $15,000 Added USEF Youth Reining National Championship and the Adequan® $10,000 Added USEF Open Reining National Championship presented by Markel Insurance will take place at 6:00 p.m. CDT on Friday, August 31, at Expo Square in Tulsa, Okla. The youth competitors, participating in either the 13 & Under, 14-18, or 19-21 divisions, will perform pattern 12, while the open competitors will perform pattern 9.

Casey Hinton was the 2016 reserve champion in the open division, and, this year, he brings Custom Banjo, Stephanie Nelson’s 10-year-old Quarter Horse gelding, for a run at the top placing in the Adequan $10,000 Added USEF Open Reining National Championship presented by Markel Insurance. Twenty-one-year-oldJack Medows (Cuba, Mo.), a member of the 2017 SVAG FEI World Reining Championship for Juniors and Young Riders team, eyes the win in the 19-21 division of the $15,000 Added USEF Youth National Championship with Surpizentheprincess, his nine-year-old Quarter Horse mare. Eighteen-year-old Cade McCutcheon (Aubrey, Texas), a 2017 teammate of Medows, returns with REF Sturgis, Anne-Marie Burns’s six-year-old Quarter Horse gelding, to defend their title in the 14-18 division of the $15,000 Added USEF Youth National Championship. Twelve-year-old Carlee McCutcheon (Aubrey, Texas), Cade’s sister, was the reserve champion in last year’s 13 & Under division and aims for the top spot with Katy Dun It, Shawn L. Stratman’s nine-year-old Quarter Horse mare.

Competition gets underway this evening at 6:00 p.m. CDT in the Ford Truck Arena.
