Goshen, Ky. – Two drivers will go head-to-head for the USEF Advanced Pair Horse Combined Driving National Championship at the Kentucky Classic CDE from August 3-5. Defending champion Steve Wilson, who has won the title the past three years, will compete with Paul Maye, a two-time USEF Advanced Single Pony National Champion who aims to add a new title to his resume.
Wilson (Louisville, Ky.) and his mixed KWPN and Lipizzaner pair have had top performances throughout 2018. They won Palm Tree CDE and Bromont International and finished second at Live Oak International. Wilson hopes to claim his fourth consecutive national champion title at Hermitage Farm, his home base.
Maye (Fairfield, Va.) has been competing a four-in-hand KWPN and Irish Cob team of horses in 2018. They finished fourth at Palm Tree CDE, fifth at Live Oak International, and sixth at the FEI World Equestrian Games Tryon 2018 Driving Test Event. Maye has shifted his focus to driving a pair for this event.
Championship competition begins on Friday with the dressage phase.
