by Western Dressage Association of America | Sep 27, 2017, 11:08 AM

Parker, Co. – The Western Dressage Association® of America (WDAA) is pleased to announce that the 2017 Western Dressage World Championship Horse Show will begin tomorrow, September 28, and run through Sunday, October 1, 2017, at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Okla. The 2017 slate of judges includes Debbie Riehl Rodriguez, Dolly Hannon, Donna Longacre, and Lillian Evaniew-Phelan. Joyce Hamblin and Cindy Reid will serve as US Equestrian (USEF) stewards. The show is approved by USEF and recognized by WDAA. The official prize list is now available online. Watch the live stream of the 2017 WDAA World Championship on USEF Network beginning Thursday. The live stream is available to US Equestrian members only. However, use code WDAA17 for a special offer.

The WDAA World Championship Show will feature four days of competition, with one day of rail classes and three days of Western dressage tests. Several classes for physically challenged riders and “Heroes on Horses” are offered. Gaited horses are always welcome and well represented in their own division. Additionally, new this year is a Gaited Horse Overall High Point Award. In 2016, over 30 breeds were represented at the show, proving the inclusiveness of Western dressage!

The focus of the show will not only be on top competition but on a shared celebration of the discipline. A silent auction will culminate during the Freestyle Fiesta on Saturday night. A $250 winner-take-all freestyle stake and a $250 costume freestyle stake also are scheduled for the evening. For those involved in the WDAA Horse Lifetime Points and Awards Program, it is exciting to note that the Western Dressage World Championship Horse Show is the only triple-point show in existence!
