Heather Blitz represented the U.S. at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 2011, riding her own and Robert McKean’s Danish Warmblood gelding, Paragon. There, she won individual silver and was part of the gold-medal team effort. Blitz and Paragon were named reserve for the 2012 Olympics in London.
Paragon had a successful grand prix career with Blitz, winning The Grand Prix Freestyle at the 2012 Adequan Global Dressage Festival (AGDF), the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle at AGDF in 2013, and a second-place finish in the FEI Grand Prix Open CDI3* at Dressage at Devon in 2014.
Recent highlights for Blitz include wins in the CDI3* Grand Prix and second place in the Grand Prix Freestyle with Semper Fidelis, an Oldenburg mare owned by Rowan O’Riley, at the 2019 AGDF. Blitz and Semper Fidelis were also part of the team that took home bronze from the 2019 FEI Dressage Nations Cup™ France in 2019.
