First Apple began his partnership with Tubman in 2018. They earned numerous wins together in 2019 with the highlight being team silver and individual gold at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games. In 2020, First Apple and Tubman moved up to the Big Tour and won the CDI3* FEI Grand Prix Special at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby.

The following year, the duo continued to develop their partnership, and by 2022, they finished in the top five over several weeks at the Adequan^® Global Dressage Festival (AGDF) to start the season. They headed to Europe for the summer, collecting a second-place finish in the Achleiten CDI4* FEI Grand Prix Test. First Apple and Tubman returned to the U.S. and continued their winning ways during the fall season.

In 2023, First Apple and Tubman had a strong start to their season at the AGDF. They headed to Germany for the summer, earning a third-place finish in the CDI3* FEI Grand Prix Special in Hagen. The pair was named to The Dutta Corp. U.S. Dressage Team for the FEI Dressage Nations Cup CDIO5* at CHIO Aachen World Equestrian Festival, where the team finished eighth in a world-class field.
