Ben 41, a 2011 Westphalian gelding owned by the Old Oak Group and cared for by Charlotte Oakes, has emerged as a consistent competitor on the show jumping world stage. He is ridden by Lucy Davis-Kennedy.In 2024, Ben 431 had an impressive year, competing in several top events. He and Davis-Kennedy finished third in the CSI4* Grand Prix during Week 10 of the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Fla. before heading to Europe where the duo won the CSI3* Prestige Grand Prix of Surenburg in Riesenbeck, Germany.
Davis-Kennedy and Ben 431 were selected as part of the 2024 Nations' Cup of Ireland team for the U.S. Jumping Team. They were the second pair in the team order for Round One to test the track following teammate Spencer Smith’s clear round. Davis-Kennedy, an Olympian and team silver medalist from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, rode the athletic and sure-footed Ben 341 with accuracy, adding a second clear round to the team’s total score to keep them on zero. In Round Two, they needed to keep pace to hold the Irish and Brits at bay. The duo rode an excellent round and were nearly through the course with a second clear round when they just barely nudged out the top rail of the final vertical on course to add four faults. After a jump-off against the Irish team, the U.S. won the Nations' Cup of Ireland, making for a successful first U.S. team appearance for Davis-Kennedy and Ben 431as a partnership.
Throughout the rest of the year, Ben 431 consistently placed well, including a fifth-place finish in the CSI5* $1,000,000 Coachella Cup Grand Prix and an admirable performance in the Longines League of Nations Final in Barcelona, Spain, finishing in sixth.
